Financial planning often brings up important questions, especially when benefits, pensions, and long-term goals are involved. This page answers the most common questions Mike receives so you can better understand how he works, what the process looks like, and what you can expect as a client.
What is it like to go through the six-step financial planning process?
Imagine a friendly conversation designed to remove the financial stress you’ve been carrying for years. The focus of the conversation is on you, your desires, and your needs. This is a time where you can relax and ask all the financial-related questions you’ve ever wanted to know the answers to. Mike will ask you some financial planning questions, and you will know all of the answers off the top of your head. It’s a very relaxing, fun experience.
What does the six-step financial planning process include?
At the end of the process, you will have a comprehensive financial plan that covers the following areas: Retirement Income Need Analysis, Insurance analysis, Debt analysis, Investment analysis, Social Security and Pension analysis, analysis of the ownership title for your property, and Emergency Fund need analysis. While we do not prepare taxes or write wills/trusts, we work with your CPA and estate planning attorney to assist you in tax planning and estate planning. This is a huge value.
Do you act as a fiduciary, and will I have online access to view my accounts?
Yes, Mike Irvin is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® practitioner, and he acts as a fiduciary when providing investment advice in all advisory accounts. And yes, you can view your accounts online. Once you have established your account with us, you will receive your login credentials to view your account online.
Who will be our point of contact after the plan is complete?
Mike will always be your main point of contact for all planning, implementation, and investment-related needs. In addition, Mike has a robust team of assistants and back office staff who are always available to help with administrative needs: changing your address, getting a copy of your statement, getting you set up with online access to your account etc.
Do we have to come into your office?
Atlanta traffic is horrible! While you are always welcome to come into the office, in many cases Mike can meet you at your home, office, or a place of convenience for you. Alternatively, Mike works with many clients who are out of town or out of state. He handles all of these meetings via Zoom.
What is the cost for going through the six-step financial planning process?
There is absolutely no cost or obligation to go through the process. There is only a cost should you decide to implement the plan. This gives you plenty of time to get to know us, ask any questions, and understand your plan fully before you ever pay a dime. We wish we could tell you how much it will cost to implement your plan. However, until we go through the process, we don’t even know what your plan will entail. So, providing you with a quote is not possible.
